The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon will entertain applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Dean of the College of Chemical Sciences (CCS).
Applications are invited for the above post from the citizens of Sri Lanka who possess the below-mentioned qualifications and experience.
Applications are entertained from:
Senior academics preferably holding the position of Professor specialized in the subject area of Chemistry.
Senior academics on sabbatical leave/retired from university service are encouraged.
The candidate shall possess Corporate Membership of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (IChemC) and preference will be given to those who are Fellow/Chartered Chemists.
General Conditions:
Age - Not more than 70 years by the closing date of application.
Salary – The selected candidate will be remunerated based on academic experience according to Institute’s guidelines. In addition, Rs 50,000 as Dean’s allowance per month will be paid.
Conditions of the Appointment:
Full-time (contract) for a period of one year which can be extended up to three years.
The Dean shall be a member of the fulltime academic staff of the College of Chemical Sciences
Working during weekends is essential but two weekdays will be given off in lieu.
The appointee is responsible to carry out overall coordinating and administrative duties associated with the post of Dean of CCS and make an effective contribution to the academic, social, and other extracurricular activities of the college in consultation with the President of the IChemC.
In addition to the appointee’s normal duties of the post of Dean CCS, conducting a minimum number of lecture series and practical sessions per semester, and supervising and guiding a minimum number of research students per year are also required.
