About the Sessions
The Annual Sessions of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon provide a national platform for chemists, researchers, academics, students and professionals to share research, exchange knowledge and celebrate excellence in chemistry.
The 55th Annual Sessions 2026 will bring together scientific presentations, technical sessions, competitions, awards, professional activities and special sessions under the theme “Chemical Research and Innovations for Economic Prosperity.”

Ceremonial Inauguration
The ceremonial inauguration of the 55th Annual Sessions will be held at the IChemC Malabe Campus.
Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon for the Council year 2026/2027 will be held at the Malabe Campus.
Technical Sessions
Presentation of research by members and undergraduate research students.
Technical Sessions
The Technical Sessions will provide an opportunity for members and undergraduate research students to present research related to chemistry and related disciplines.
Submission of Research
- Ongoing research can be submitted for presentation.
- Only members other than student members can be Corresponding Authors.
- An accepted abstract can be presented by any author.
- A non-member collaborator or co-author who is required to obtain membership should apply for Session Membership.
- Overseas co-authors do not need IChemC membership.
- Authors other than Session Members should have no membership fee arrears.
- Abstracts and extended abstracts should be submitted by 15 April 2026.
- Late or non-compliant submissions will not be considered.
Women in Chemistry
A session dedicated to the Women Chemists Committee (WCC) of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon.
The Women Chemists Committee brings together women chemists from Sri Lanka and overseas, including veteran chemists associated with universities, research institutions and professional organisations.
The committee promotes the active participation and contribution of women chemists in scientific research, professional development and the advancement of chemistry.
Call for Abstracts & Extended Abstracts

Call for Abstracts
Members of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon, including members conducting research outside Sri Lanka, are invited to submit abstracts and extended abstracts for presentation at the 55th Annual Sessions 2026.
The submission should present research relevant to the scientific scope of the Annual Sessions and should comply with the prescribed preparation guidelines.
Abstract Submission
Abstracts and extended abstracts should be submitted through the online submission portal.
Membership Requirements
- Only members of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon are entitled to be principal authors (corresponding authors).
- If the presenting author is not a member of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon and is not eligible for applying for membership, he/she must apply for Session Membership if the abstract is accepted.
- The Session Membership fee is Rs. 1,500/= and should be paid online.
- Overseas co-authors do not need IChemC membership.

Completed application forms and supporting documents should be submitted to the Council by 28 February 2026.
Inter-University Chemical Innovation Competition 2026
Organised by the Innovation and Product Development Committee to recognise and reward chemistry-based innovations with commercial, societal or environmental potential.

Session Membership is available for those who do not have IChemC membership and are required to obtain Session Membership for participation in the Annual Sessions.
