Chemistry Olympiad Sri Lanka 2024: Preliminary Selection Test sets the stage for International Glory
The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (IChemC), endorsed by the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) steering committee, has initiated the Chemistry Olympiad Sri Lanka (COSL) – 2024. The Preliminary Selection Test on February 11, 2024, marked the beginning of this prestigious event, attracting 500 students across nine centers nationwide. Conducted in Sinhala, Tamil, and English, the 2 hours and 30 minutes exam aimed to identify top contenders who will represent Sri Lanka at the International Chemistry Olympiad. The IChemC proudly declares the test a success, highlighting the dedication of participating students.
The COSL, organized annually since 2017, targets G.C.E. (A/L) students, aiming to popularize chemistry among the youth. Following the preliminary test, selected students will advance to the final round, with theory and practical workshops at the IChemC premises in Rajagiriya preparing them for the grand finale at the International Chemistry Olympiad.
The Chemistry Olympiad Sri Lanka boasts a history of excellence, as seen in 2023 when the Sri Lankan team secured four bronze medals at the IChO in Switzerland, showcasing the nation’s chemistry talent.
This is a golden opportunity for students to shine internationally and bring glory to their schools, communities, and the entire nation.
