This prestigious award is for outstanding research contribution in any branch of Chemical Sciences and/or the use of such research for National Development during the last five (5) years in Sri Lanka.
Sandwich programmes carried out particularly abroad do not qualify for the award. However, less than 20% of the research findings from work which could not have been carried out in Sri Lanka due to non-availability of facilities may be considered. Credit will be given for the utilization of local raw materials, and where the contribution has already resulted in
(i) publications in the Journals indexed in the following indices with the affiliation of the local university/institute. “present address” will not be considered. (Sci. Indexed expanded, Scopus)
(ii) registering a Patent or
(iii) where the contribution has already resulted in a positive impact in the development and innovation in the industry. Category (iii) requires the submission of documentary evidence.
This prestigious award shall comprise a Gold-plated Medal and a sum of Rs 50,000/-.
The recipient of the award shall be invited to deliver the “C L de Silva Gold Medal Award Lecture” at the Institute’s Annual Sessions.
Marking scheme:
- Research publications in SCI/SCIE/SCOPUS) journals up to 3 points/publication (no maximum limit), 2 points for indexing inthe above indices. Research publications in other peer-reviewed journals up to 2 marks (no maximum limit)
- Patents
International up to 10 points/patent (maximum 30 points) Local up to 5 points/patent (maximum 20 points) - Impact/Potential impact on the development and innovation in the industry (based on the write-up) up to 10 points
License agreements, non-disclosure agreements, trademarks, and products in the market. (15 points) - H index (0.5 x h index) points
- Citations of the papers considered in 1. (0.5 per citation up to 4 points per paper without self-citations.
Note:
- For publications and patents which include multiple authors, marks will be allocated based on the applicant’s contribution stated in the application.
- points for indexing will be given without distributing marks according to author contribution.
- Research publications in SCI/SCIE/SCOPUS and other peer reviewed journals should be categorized accordingly.
- All the claims under 1,2, 3, and 5 should be during the last 5 years.
Important: The minimum requirement for eligibility of the award shall be 60 marks.
